Two semi trailers have collided on a windy section of Pakenham Road near Mt Burnett, with reports coming through that one of the truck’s occupants was trapped and later flown to hospital via air ambulance.
Emergency services were called to the incident about 11am on Friday 9 April.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed one person had been taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.
The two semi trailers involved, one of which had a tractor on the back, are believed to have collided on a bend in Pakenham Road near the corner of Mt Burnett Road.
Victoria Police have set up roadblocks on Pakenham Road and traffic is being turned around at Mt Burnett Road to the south, and Turner Road at the north.
An SES spokesperson said that the Environment Protection Authority had also been called in to assess a “large diesel spill” at the scene.
The Captain of the Cockatoo CFA, Chris White, was on scene and confirmed that one person had been injured in the accident and taken to hospital.
Mr White said that it was “too early at this stage” to reveal any other information, as the “investigation is still ongoing”.
He did say that the road “would be closed for some time” and motorists needed to find a new route around the incident.
