A man from The Basin has been arrested after threatening to throw petrol bombs at an upcoming protest in Melbourne’s CBD.

Boronia police charged the 48-year-old with threats to kill after he rang a suburban police station threatening to throw petrol bombs at police at the next protest.

The calls were made on Monday 23 August.

The man was also charged with threats to inflict serious injury and threats to assault a police officer.

He was released on bail to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on 7 February 2022.
