Mount Dandenong Preschool will continue to run its three and four-year-old preschool programs from Olinda Primary School into 2022, as Yarra Ranges Council waits for the scope of work insurance report.

The preschool closed in June 2021 after the weather events caused a tree to fall and damage their existing building at 1345 Mount Dandenong Tourist Road, Mount Dandenong. Since then, the preschool has been operating from Olinda Primary School.

Yarra Ranges Council Mayor Jim Child said council is waiting for the insurance company to provide a scope of work report before any work can be undertaken.

“While this relocation is temporary, until we get more clarity from the insurance company, the Mount Dandenong Preschool staff will continue to offer this vital service to families in the region by operating from the Olinda Primary School site, which has been set up for use and provides the infrastructure needed to deliver this service,” Mayor Child said.

Usable equipment from the Preschool’s outdoor area has been relocated to Olinda.

Mount Dandenong Preschool currently runs out of Olinda Primary school on Thursdays from 9.15am to 2.15pm, and offers four-year-old preschool services on Tuesdays to Thursdays from 9.15am to 2.15pm.
