Cardinia Shire Council has announced $300,000 in funding for the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail connection.
The project will connect the trail from Edenmont Road in Clematis to an existing trail within the Yarra Ranges Shire, completing the full scope of the EDRT and linking Cardinia Shire to the Yarra Ranges Shire.
The project has been jointly funded by the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund and Cardinia Shire Council’s Capital Works Program.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield was pleased Cardinia Shire Council received the funding from the Victorian Government.
“We continue to rank as one of the fastest-growing areas in the state and this funding support will assist us to continue to deliver the community facilities needed for Cardinia Shire both now and into the future,” Cr Springfield said.
“These successful grants are the result of advocacy by Council on behalf of our community and we are excited to these projects come to life.”
The Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail is a 14.5 kilometre scenic path through Clematis, Emerald, Cockatoo and Gembrook. It features barbeque areas, fitness equipment, playgrounds, picnic areas and shelters, and is suitable for cycling, running and walking.
$200,000 dollars was supplied by the Growing Suburbs Fund, with the Capital Works Program funding $100,000.
