Planned burns conducted in Belgrave South

Belgrave South CFA performed a three-hectare private burn with the assistance of Silvan, Belgrave and Macclesfield, Clemantis and Healesville CFA crews on Monday 28 March.

Smoke was seen in the areas surrounding Belgrave South.

“Crews worked to ensure that the fire did not escape containment lines whilst reducing the fuel load on the property,” Silvan Fire Brigade said in a Facebook post.

“Lots of planning went into the event making sure that conditions were at the optimum to achieve a full burn whilst not risking the fire getting out of hand.”

More planned burns throughout the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley are expected across the next few weeks.
