Monbulk CFA has received a record breaking $22,000 raised from the Monbulk Car Show, over $4000 dollars more than when the event last ran in 2019.
Monbulk Fire and Rescue said on Facebook members of the brigade started the day at 6am on 20 March, when the event was held after being delayed for two years because of Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns.
“Thanks also to the car show committee for a long road each year to get the show running including 3 of our own members who put in above and beyond their normal fire brigade commitments each year,” Monbulk Fire and Rescue said.
“We love what the show provides to the town and it’s been amazing to see so many happy people enjoying it, particularly in Covid times.”
Event organiser Richard Licciardi told the Star Mail on 25 February the event is the biggest in Monbulk every year, with between four and five thousand people attending.
“In 2019 we raised about $18,000. CFA is pushing to try and get a bigger, newer station,” he said.
“It’s at the point where the new trucks don’t really fit in, so the roller door has to be held up to get the new truck out. That’s not very practical.”
