A number of popular Lucas’ Papaw Ointment products have been recalled by the Therapeutic Goods Administration because of microbial contamination, with three different species of fungus and one bacterium detected.

The recall affects the 15g, 75g and 200g sized products. If your ointment is from the affected batches, you should immediately stop using it and return it to the place of purchase for a refund or contact Lucas’ Papaw Remedies Customer Service on 1800 861 852.

The detected fungus and bacteria pose little risk to most people, but there is a remote risk for individuals who are immunocompromised who could become ill if they are exposed to these organisms.

If you have a container of Lucas’ Papaw Ointment, check its batch number.

Batch numbers are on the ‘crimp’ at the top of the 15g tube and the bottom of the 75g and 200g containers.
