When Monbulk voters go to the polls in November for the state election, they’ll find a different looking electorate after changes reshaped the boundaries.

In November 2021, it was announced the Monbulk electorate would be become larger due to being 10.72 per cent below the average size of electorates throughout Victoria.

The Gembrook and Ferntree Gully electorates, held by Liberal MPs Brad Battin and Nick Wakeling respectively, were abolished, with their parts cannibalised by Monbulk, Bayswater and Rowville.

This means in November 2022, people in Gembrook, Emerald, Cockatoo, Upper Ferntree Gully and parts of Ferntree Gully will be among the 49,108 electors who vote in Monbulk. Residents in parts of Mt Evelyn and Montrose, who may have previously voted in Monbulk, will instead by move to either the Evelyn or Croydon electorates. The south eastern border of the electorate now continues to the edge of Nar Nar Goon North.

An area from Monbulk Creek to the Ferntree Gully Bowls Club is now part of Monbulk, while a large part of The Basin has also joined the electorate.

Voters who were in the Ferntree Gully electorate have been split between Bayswater, Monbulk and Rowville.
