Police charge man after Upwey stabbing

Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit members have charged a 21-year-old man from Ferntree Gully following an alleged stabbing in Upwey on 22 September.

Police said it is understood two men were involved in “a dispute in a car park on Mast Gully Road,” around 7.30pm.

“During the dispute, a 22-year-old Belgrave Heights man was allegedly stabbed to the face,” police said.

“He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the other man allegedly left the scene.”

The man was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury, assault with a weapon. He was bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court on 29 September.
