Ferntree Gully teen arrested following aggravated burglaries

A Ferntree Gully teenager was one of five arrested following a series of aggravated burglaries and home invasions throughout Melbourne’s southern and eastern regions.

Police said investigators believe a series of linked incidents occurred between 3 October and 10 October in a number of locations including Ringwood and Mount Waverley.

Police stopped a vehicle that was allegedly stolen from an address in Brighton earlier in the day and seen at aggravated burglaries in Cheltenham and Sandringham the same day.

A 15-year-old driver was arrested without incident, however, police allege the passengers in the car attempted to flee before being caught.

A 14-year-old boy, an 18-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy and the 17-year-old from Ferntree Gully were arrested and charged with a variety of offences.

The Ferntree Gully teenager was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possessing cannabis and committing an indictable offence while on bail. He has been remanded to appear at the children’s court at a later date according to police.
