Police seek information after near miss on Eastlink

Police are asking the community to come forward with any information or dashcam footage available after a driver narrowly escaped serious injury following an accident on Eastlink on Friday 14 October.

Police said at approximately 3.30pm, a dark grey or black coloured Ranger or Mitsubishi towing a trailer was travelling on Eastlink in a northbound direction when a three-metre pole become unfastened from the trailer before colliding with the vehicle directly behind it just after the intersection with the Princess Highway.

The driver of the vehicle behind the trailer managed to swerve when the pole collided with the vehicle, where it “narrowly missed any windows.”

“The driver was naturally shaken at the close call,” Police said.

“The driver of the ute has continued in a northly direction without stopping or assisting at the scene.”

Anybody with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact Transit EAST at 9871 4128.
