Emergency service responded after a vehicle drove 50 metres off Belgrave-Gembrook Road in Menzies Creek on Thursday 6 April.
CFA crews were called to the accident just before 11.30am, with SES, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police and FRV working on a high angle rescue to bring the patient back up the hill.
Monbulk Fire & Rescue Brigade captain Simon Schroder said the driver was “extremely” lucky to have avoided large trees along the embankment.
“She’s missed every tree and power pole on the way down 50 metres of bush…there were some significant trees that were missed,” Mr Schroder said.
“Threaded the needle, we might say.”
According to a CFA spokesperson, the patient wasn’t trapped, but had received injuries.
It’s understood the woman was taken to the Alfred Hospital by road ambulance in a stable condition.
Mr Schroder said the incident was the brigade’s second extrication job this week.
“We had one on Sunday of very similar distance, about 50 metres.. we had a motorbike rider up on Mount Bride Road [in Warburton], and he left the road on his motorbike and was injured.
“We had the same rope system, brought him up to the road and he was flown out by ambulance.
“I can’t reiterate how much of an inter agency response this was between VicPol and CFA and SES… we all worked really well in together and great teamwork and camaraderie to good outcomes.”
Victoria Police were contacted for comment.
