Here is three activities for winter

You can…See the snow

If the condition are just right it can snow just up the road on Mt Dandenong, but more than likely the closest place to enjoy the snow is going to be Lake Mountain in the Yarra Ranges. Here you will be assured to enjoy a day of skiing, snowball fights and some hot chocolate on the mountain.

Whales

Whales migrate long distances together in the winter to reach warmer waters. Phillip Island is one of the best hotspots in the country to see whales the peak times in June and July. There you can book tours around the island to catch some whale sightings. The most common around the island is Southern Right Whale and the well-known Humpback Whale. It is rarer, but still possible to see Orcas on occasion.

Winterfest

Every city and their dog are doing big winter festivals every year now, with Melbourne’s ’Rising’ this week, to the world famous ’Dark Mofo’ in Hobart this week. No need to travel that far because Cardinia has it’s own called Winterfest. Running for two weeks later this month the festival will have events all over the shire, from the Puffing Billy night train to wildlife trails at Gumbuya World.
