Where to cast your vote in ‘The Voice’

Knox locals are being reminded to head out to the polling booths tomorrow and submit their vote in ‘The Voice’ referendum.

The official voting day is Saturday 14 October, with Australians choosing to vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ in the referendum.

Several schools around Ferntree Gully, Belgrave, Wantirna, Boronia, Rowville, Knoxfield, Lysterfield and Bayswater, among other locations across the Knox municipality, will have their doors open for locals to drop by and cast their vote.

The referendum is about a vote on the proposed alteration to the Australian Constitution.

Locals will be asked to answer the question ‘a proposed law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?’

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced plans earlier this year to set up a broad-based parliamentary committee to deal with the drafting of the legislation.

It has already been established ahead of the referendum that The Voice will consist of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members from each of the states and territories including some from remote communities.
