World Philosophy Day was held around the globe on Thursday 16 November. Here are three of history’s most important philosophical minds and how they have influenced the way we think about life to this day.
Widely considered as one of the most important and influential individuals in human history and the pivotal figure in the history of Ancient Greek and Western philosophy, his entire body of work is believed to have survived intact for more than 2400 years.
2. René Descartes
A French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist, Descartes’ most well-known axiom is ‘I think, therefore I am’.
3. Karl Marx
With his name being used as an adjective, a noun and a school of social theory, his influence on modern Western philosophy and politics is self-evident.
