Wellington Road to be closed during maintenance works

The Department of Transport and Planning is conducting road maintenance works on Wellington Road in Belgrave South and Narre Warren East as part of the routine maintenance program.

The department is undertaking maintenance works on three sections of Wellington Road between Ryans Road in Belgrave South and Aura Vale Road in Menzies Creek.

These works will involve major road patching works to repair damaged areas and improve the condition of the road surface.

This work is being completed as part of the Victorian government’s routine maintenance program, and will be delivered in three stages between Sunday 3 December and the morning of Friday 8 December.

Crews will be working at night between 8pm and 5am, Sunday to Thursday.

Road maintenance requires dry, temperate weather conditions when removing and relaying the road surface. Please note that the dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions.

What to expect:

Stage one – between Ryans Road and Belgrave – Hallam Road, Belgrave South

Works will be undertaken over three nights between 8pm and 5am from Sunday 3 December to the morning of Wednesday 6 December, weather permitting.

During works, Wellington Road will be closed between Ryans Road and Belgrave – Hallam Road, with a signed detour in place via Stud Road, Heatherton Road and Belgrave – Hallam Road.

An alternative detour will also be in place via Lysterfield Road, Burwood Highway, Belgrave – Gembrook Road and Belgrave – Hallam Road.

Stage two – between Blackstone Lane and Monash Road, Narre Warren East

Works will be undertaken over one night between 8pm and 5am from Wednesday 6 December to the morning of Thursday 7 December, weather permitting.

During works crews will be working gradually at two different sites on Wellington Road, with Wellington Road closed between Blackstone Lane and Monash Road. A signed detour will be in place via Belgrave – Hallam Road and Belgrave – Gembrook Road.

Stage three – between Berwick Road and Monash Road, Narre Warren East

Works will be undertaken over one night between 8pm and 5am from Thursday 7 December to the morning of Friday 8 December, weather permitting.

During works, Wellington Road will be closed between Berwick Road and Monash Road with a signed detour in place via Belgrave – Hallam Road and Belgrave – Gembrook Road.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times during works, however only local traffic will be permitted within the road closure areas.

During all stages of work, detours will be in place and there will be delays of up to 15 minutes for motorists.

People are advised to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time when travelling through the area.
