Council facilities, national park closures due to extreme fire danger rating

Yarra Ranges Council is closing a number of its services, while Parks Victoria has closed national parks due to today’s extreme weather.

With the Extreme Fire Danger Rating, the water jets at Warburton Water World will not be operating.

Yarra Ranges Council’s other water play parks – in Seville and at Lillydale Lake – will have their jets on today, for anyone looking for a place to cool off.

Bookaburra session today in Mount Evelyn will not run.

L2P driving sessions will be unavailable.

Maternal Child Health Offices in Healesville, Upwey, Belgrave, Montrose, Monbulk, Yarra Junction, Wandin will be closed from midday.

The Arts Centre in Warburton will be closed this evening.

Dandenong Ranges National Park areas including Ferntree Gully Picnic Ground, 1000 Steps Kokoda Memorial Walk, One Tree Hill Picnic Ground, Sherbrooke Picnic Ground, Grants Picnic Ground, Doongalla Homestead Picnic Ground, Olinda Falls Picnic Ground, O’Donohue Picnic Ground and Kalorama Park will be closed.

Dandenong Ranges Gardens including the Botanic Gardens, William Ricketts Sanctuary, Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens, George Tindale Memorial Gardens, Pirianda Garden, RJ Hammer Arboretum, Mount Dandenong Arboretum and Olinda Golf Course will also be closed to visitors.

Please remember to be sun-smart today – wear high SPF sunscreen, hats and protective clothing, spend time in the shade and remember to drink plenty of water.

If you need somewhere cool to go, away from the sun, shopping centres, movie theatres and Council venues have air conditioning.
