Single car rollover on the Mad Mile leaves passengers unharmed

Two passengers of a car rollover are safe and unharmed after their car rolled onto the busy Burwood Highway in on Monday night, closing traffic to two lanes for over an hour.

A car rollover on the ‘mad mile’ of Ferntree Gully thankfully left the two passengers of the car with no injuries on the evening of Monday 3 June.

CFA media said that CFA responded to a rescue at Upper Ferntree Gully at around 6:31 pm on 3 June.

“The incident involved a vehicle that had rolled over and Ambulance Victoria was also on scene,” they said.

A Victorian Ambulance spokesperson said that paramedics were called to a report of a vehicle rollover in Upper Ferntree Gully around 6:30 pm.

“No one was taken to hospital,” they said.

Upper Ferntree Gully Captain Peter Smith said that the driver of a vehicle slipped off the edge of their driveway as they were reversing down.

“They got too close to the edge and the car rolled 5 or 6 metres,” he said.

Five units responded to the incident from Upper Ferntree Gully and Upwey alongside the SES.

CFA media said the incident was deemed under control at 6:39 pm.

“It was declared safe at 7:22 pm,” they said.
