A land consultation for residents in the Knox municipality has commenced for the site of the old Bayswater Youth Hall.
Knox Council is proposing to sell land at 58-60 Station Street, Bayswater for the purpose of social housing.
The council will at a later point decide whether or not to sell 58-60 Station Street Bayswater for the purpose of social housing at a subsidised rate of approximately 62% below market value.
This council-owned land was previously the location of the Bayswater Youth Hall. The hall was demolished in 2020 as it was quite old and no longer safe for community use.
Knox Council’s Social and Affordable Housing Strategy includes an action to identify surplus land in locations with good access to public transport, community, retail and social services as potential sites for social housing.
Access to safe, secure and affordable housing was a key priority identified by the community when developing the Knox Council Plan for 2021-25.
Residents are invited to provide feedback or find out more on the Knox Council Have Your Say website by 10 July this year.
Drop in sessions are also available at the Bayswater Library, Shop 26, Mountain High Shopping Centre. A Mandarin interpreter will be available.
The sessions will run on Thursday, 20 June – 5.30pm to 7.30pm and Tuesday, 25 June – 10.00am to 12.00pm.
More information on the development plan is available on the Knox website.
