Community radio station hosting annual Radiothon

From 16 September to 13 October 3MDR 97.1fm will be holding its annual subscription and donation drive with the theme “But Wait …There’s More!”.

This four-week campaign is 3MDR’s largest fundraiser for the year.

3MDR is a not-for-profit community radio station that has provided an independent community voice for the Mountain District area for nearly 40 years. The station is run by two part-time staff, over 100 volunteers, and the generosity of the subscribers, donors and sponsors who fund the station.

“It’s the time when we really ask our community to back us and support us to be able to continue to make great community radio”, said engagement coordinator, Ren Cuttriss.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s always a month of really hard work, but the feedback and the comments that we hear from people in our community are just fantastic,” Ren said.

3MDR broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, each and every week of the year.

The station provides an alternative to commercial and national stations, giving a platform to music and issues of social justice, and for many people, causes and opinions that may otherwise not be heard.

Programming covers more than 60 volunteer-created programs featuring music, live performances, news, lifestyle and local community arts and culture, as well as emergency information and alerts, and community service announcements.

3MDR is also a proud host to a wide variety of community language programs in Greek, Romanian, Sri Lankan, Tamil, Hindi, Croatian, and Samoan.

3MDR’s Radiothon will culminate in a ‘Big Gig’ on Friday 11 October at Sooki Lounge featuring The Coffins, Lost Canoe, The Wax Eaters, Deep Steve, Trux, Arrows of Desire, and more. Tickets are available from $10 via 3mdr.com

To subscribe or donate to the station, please access 3MDR’s website at www.3MDR.com
