The Tecoma Twilight Ethical Market returns once more on Sunday 17 November at the Tecoma Uniting Church.
The reconfigured market with a new third stage will make this fifth iteration of the Tecoma market a bevvy of local talent and festive ethical trading.
Tecoma Uniting Church Minister Matt Cutler said they are mega excited for the event.
“We are setting our sail towards the kind of people and the kind of world we want to be,” he said.
“It’s a great time of year and we’re celebrating things that are good for the environment, things that are good for each other, social enterprise, inclusion, First Nations people – all those things.”
Local artists set to perform include James Hampton, Saint Ergo, Jenna Campbell, the Little Yarra Ensemble and the African drumming circle.
The event will also feature local choirs from all over the hills and include groups from Tecoma Primary School, Lyrebirds, Sweet Sassafras, Hills Singers and Vokallista who are set to perform.
Around 50 stall holders will be there, along with local food vendors, kids activities and face painting – the market promises to be a great community event for the whole family.
All the traders at the market are all about fair trade, upcycling, eco-friendly vibes, sustainability, boosting the community, and supporting local or First Nations initiatives.
“It’s a total mix and people can buy gifts that are sustainable and ethical,” said Minister Matt.
Funds generated from the event will go to Foothills Community Care – a local not-for-profit that feeds hundreds of people in the hills every week through a delivered meals program and community meals night in Upwey.
Foothills also support people through family and domestic violence, drug addiction, homelessness, poverty, mental health issues, and social isolation.
The market runs from 4pm – 8pm Sunday, 17 November at 1566 Burwood Hwy, Tecoma.
“The market is all about winning on two fronts,” said Minister Matt.
