Yarra Ranges police urge residents not to burn off

Local police are urging Yarra Ranges residents not to ruin their holiday break by lighting bonfires or burn-off piles.

A post on the ‘Eyewatch – Yarra Ranges Police Service Area’ Facebook page on Thursday 2 January has shared that ‘a number of Yarra Ranges residents will be charged with lighting fires during a fire danger period after conducting illegal burn-offs over the past few days.’

“Police have a zero tolerance approach to these types of offences and offenders can expect a summons to attend Court,” the post reads.
