Rain, severe thunderstorms and possible flooding for much of the east coast this weekend, including for areas around Sydney and parts of south-east Queensland according to the BoM update on Friday 10 January.
In the Yarra Ranges on Saturday 11 January Yarra Glen will see a high of 34 ℃ with a sunny morning. Further, a there will be a chance of fog in the southeast suburbs in the early morning, Mount Dandenong will reach a high of 29 ℃ and a medium chance for rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon and
“This wet weather is being driven by moist easterly flow and pushing against the east coast, driving these widespread areas of showers and storms,” said meteorologist Miriam Bradley.
“These areas extend through parts of central and south-east Queensland, right down the east coast of New South Wales, and will, especially from Saturday onwards, spill into parts of Victoria and Tasmania as well,” she said.
Early next week, showers are predicted to ease back through parts of the south-east in particular, but the risk of heavy falls will continue in some areas.
