Soups on! Carrot surplus at the free pantry

The Tecoma Food is Free Pantry has a large surplus of carrots just waiting for people to pop in and grab some for the weekend.

Along with other essential items, the the free pantry offers community the chance to take what they need.

Putting the work out over social media, the food pantry suggested carrot and ginger soup, carrot cake or carrot sticks to use up the surplus of the staple vegetable.

Food Is Free Tecoma is a community initiative the aim is to reach out into the local community to provide a source of free, healthy, and where possible, organic foods.

Other uses for the humble carrot can include Carrot and Apple Slaw, Roasted Carrots with Honey and Thyme, Carrot and Lentil Dahl and more.

Carrots are not only delicious and versatile but also packed with numerous health benefits, from supplying a bevy of nutrients to supporting eye health.
