Upgrades for Eastern Ranges school

Students in Monbulk are sharing in the benefits of the State Government’s record funding in schools, with the unveiling of new facilities at Eastern Ranges School delivering Victorian students the first-class facilities they deserve to support better learning outcomes.

Monbulk Member, Daniela De Martino, officially opened upgrades to the school with a tour of its new facilities on 21 March.

“I’m so excited to see these new facilities open and ready for use at Eastern Ranges School and I’m looking forward to seeing the students thrive in their new learning spaces,” Ms De Martino said.

“These new facilities are part of the government’s wider commitment to making sure all schools have the most up-to-date facilities, for a first-class education.”

The current Labor Government contributed $9.85 million across the Victorian Budget 2022/23 and the Victorian Budget 2023/24 to build the new school upgrades, including general learning areas, administration buildings and amenities.

“Every student deserves world class facilities at their school. We will continue to invest in renovating school facilities, making sure we meet the needs of every child,” Deputy Premier and Education Minister, Ben Carroll said.

The school’s newest additions are a Learn to Play room and a wing for senior students.

Modern learning environments help develop creative thinking, promote STEM literacy, and inspire learning for life – critical skills for future success.

Eastern Ranges School principal, Sam Silverwood, said the new Senior building has been a long time in the making for the ERS community, and the students have fully embraced it.

“We have been able to create more space throughout the corridor and the classrooms and this has given students a more flexible learning experience in their rooms,” he said.

“It has been wonderful to have the Year 7-9 students all in the same space again after spending last year spread out in different areas.”

In the past 10 years, the Labor Government has invested $16.9 billion to build new schools and deliver more than 2200 school upgrades to improve educational facilities and support more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.

This includes almost $1 billion to build, expand and renovate Catholic and independent schools.

This investment will ensure every child can get a great education and that our schools can cater for Victoria’s growing population.
