Dandenong Volunteers Shine Bright

The Dandenong and Hills is home to some truly big-hearted people – and this year, a few of our very own have been named finalists in the 2025 Inclusive Volunteering Awards.

We’re talking about the locals who roll up their sleeves, show up rain or shine, and make our corner of the world a more welcoming place for everyone.

A huge shoutout to Ferntree Gully Tennis Club, Interchange Outer East from Ferntree Gully, Mountain District Radio 3MDR from Upwey, Temple Society Australia from Bayswater, Champion Community Hub also from Bayswater, Underneath My Umbrella from Knox, and the Women’s Federation for World Peace Australia from Belgrave Heights – all of whom are doing incredible work right here in the hills.

Whether it’s creating safe spaces for people with disabilities, offering mental health support, building connections through sport or radio, or simply being there for someone who needs a hand – these groups are quietly changing lives every day. And now they’re getting the recognition they truly deserve.

The awards are happening on Tuesday 29 April at the Knox Community Arts Centre in Bayswater – and you’re invited. It’s free to attend, there’s food (always a win), and it’ll be a great chance to meet like-minded people who care about inclusion, community and making a real difference.

Come along, cheer for our local legends, and leave feeling inspired. These folks represent the best of what makes the Dandenong Ranges special – kindness, community, and a whole lot of heart.

To book your spot, visit: events.humanitix.com/inclusive-volunteering-awards-and-conference-2025) – it’s free, but spots are limited!
