Do you find yourself wondering what your rates are funding in the Yarra Ranges?
The majority of the works the council completes are minor works, so it’s easy to overlook them, whereas the bigger, more expensive projects get a lot of attention.
Last month, a number of minor works were completed by the Yarra Ranges Council – here’s a quick rundown for the Hills.
The Monbulk Recreation Reserve Parks Blitz took place and local sports clubs had its sportsfield ovals sliced and fertilised.
Energy resilience got a step closer with the Monbulk Microgrid’s generator, storage and battery installed.
A new place to sit and rest on David Hill Road Monbulk is available with recent seat installations.
Macclesfield Hall got a clean up with pruning, mulching, weed control works completed.
The beautiful Burkes Lookout just got more picturesque with some planting taking place adjacent to ngurrak barring/RidgeWalk.
Inspections and maintenance on Olinda Precinct Playspace’s flying fox were completed (to ensure no child literally goes flying).
Beech Avenue Selby had its redundant cross culvert removed, while a cross culvert extension and endwall was installed at Goudiesdale Road Selby. Cross culverts are a structure that carries water beneath a road and they’re crucial in preventing flooding (pretty important for Selby).
Other cross culvert works took place at Denham Road Belgrave South.
The Patch Hall got a quick clean up with some pruning and general maintenance.
More sportsfield ovals were sliced and/or fertilised.
Baynes Playspace got some maintenance done to its combo unit.
The Belgrave Township received some general township enhancements as it was mulched, paved and had new garden beds installed.
Kooringal Road Upwey had kerb maintenance and pit repairs.
Monbulk Road Kallista had a retaining wall installed.
Kallista‐Emerald Road had open drain improvements done.
Sherbrooke Lodge Road got its cross culvert and endwalls replaced.
Some more drainage works took place on Thomson Avenue/Upper Coonara Road and Chalet Road in Olinda.
