Rainy day catch up in Belgrave

Belgrave Police invited locals to sit down for a chat over coffee despite the rainy weather on 22 July at the Belgrave Bakery.

An initiative aimed at strengthening ties between police and the community, a few locals and police officers got together for a chat out of the weather.

Senior Sergeant Cassandra Forbes, Officer in Charge at Belgrave Police Station, said events like these allow police to let the community know what they are focusing on.

The informal gathering is designed to enhance community engagement, build trust, and improve perceptions of public safety in the Belgrave area and surrounds.

Residents are encouraged to come along, ask questions, share concerns, or simply get to know the local officers who serve their community.

Later this year, a more formal gathering will take place for Yarra Ranges residents at the Neighbourhood Policing Forum on Wednesday 12 November, with subjects like family violence, youth-related crime, crime prevention, drugs and drug-related crime and policy on the table.
