Minor works in the Ranges

When we, hard working residents of the Yarra Ranges, pay our rates to the council, we sometimes might think: ‘Where exactly does my money go?’

The majority of the works the council completes are minor works, so it’s easy to overlook them, whereas the bigger, more expensive projects get a lot of attention.

In September, a number of minor works were completed by the Yarra Ranges Council – here’s a quick rundown.

All over the Yarra Ranges, sporting ovals were maintained in preparation for the start of the cricket season.

Throughout Belgrave, new gravel was installed in the garden bed area next to the vet and the nature strip out the front of the community centre.

Tactile indicators on the footpaths were also replaced.

At Allandale Grove, embankment planting took place, and the Birdsland Reserve car park fence was renewed.

Meanwhile, roadside section repairs were made at Hayes car park.

Over in Monbulk, general footpath repairs were done throughout the township.

Up ahead in Silvan, Hunter Road’s potholes were patched with asphalt, while across in Macclesfield, the new Macclesfield Pony Club building was completed.
