How to help with Foothills Community Care

In 2026, Foothills Community Care will officially move into its new home, the Foothills Community Hub, in Upwey. It’s a big move for the group, and a long time coming.

Foothills has been providing community meals in Ferntree Gully for 24 years, and in Upwey for 10 years.

In 2025, through our meal nights and Community Casseroles food delivery, Foothills provided more than 50,000 meals and 15,000 fresh food packages, and repurposed 80 tonnes of rescued food.

The organisation is supported by 250 volunteers, and is 100 per cent funded by grants, donations, and our two op shops.

But we’re bursting at the seams, and in 2026, as we move into our new location, we’re able to support even more local people with dignity, warmth, connection, and delicious food.

Ways to help out in 2026:

Find volunteer opportunities at: foothillscare.org.au/get-involved/.

Donate non-perishable goods at the Ferntree Gully free pantry.

Bake a cake and deliver it to one of our meal nights.

Donate your pre-loved goods to our Tecoma or Upwey op shops (and do some shopping while you’re there!)

Come to the Foothills Community Hub for a coffee and a chat.

Spread the word.

“When people experience what we do, they talk to their friends and community about it, and it creates a ripple effect. When you get involved in your local community, understand who people are and their different needs, that can only make our world a better place.” – Drew Nicholls, Operations Manager
