Drivers caught speeding, Olinda man blows over and loses license

A number of drivers have been pulled over by the Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol in early January.

Friday 2 January saw a 20-year-old male detected speeding at 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Stud Road in Rowville.

He was issued with a $1,018 penalty notice and he will be disqualified from driving for 12-months.

In Mount Evelyn, an 18-year-old male probationary driver was detected speeding at 104 km/h in a 60 km/h zone, police reported that

he had only been licenced for 2 weeks.

The teen was issued with an $865 penalty notice and his licence will be suspended for 6-months.

In Basin-Olinda Rd, Olinda, a 38-year-old male driver returned a positive Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) for alcohol, then later blew a Evidentiary Breath Test (EBT) result of 0.133.

His licence was immediately suspended for 12-months and he was issued with an $865 penalty notice.
