Rocky Mountaineer Magic

For more than 30 years, Rocky Mountaineer has welcomed guests from around the world to experience luxury rail journeys through some of the most spectacular landscapes in North America. From the dramatic peaks of the Canadian Rocky Mountains to the vast deserts and red-rock canyons of the American Southwest, these iconic journeys are designed for travellers who want to slow down, look out the window, and truly savour the scenery.

Travelling by luxury glass-domed train, guests are treated to ever-changing vistas of sky-high mountains, turquoise lakes, ancient glaciers, rugged canyons and, with a little luck, glimpses of wildlife along the way. It’s a front-row seat to nature at its most impressive, paired with impeccable service and refined comfort onboard.

Rocky Mountaineer offers four unique rail routes. The most popular, First Passage to the West, retraces historic Canadian rail lines between Vancouver and the celebrated mountain towns of Banff and Lake Louise. Over two days, the train winds through British Columbia and Alberta, passing thundering waterfalls, icy glaciers and dramatic mountain scenery.

Another favourite is Journey through the Clouds, connecting Vancouver with Jasper National Park. This route travels through some of the most pristine and awe-inspiring landscapes in Canada, showcasing remote wilderness and towering peaks that feel untouched by time. For those wanting a longer adventure, the three-day Rainforest to Gold Rush journey travels from the lush coastal rainforest through desert terrain and ranchland before reaching the heart of the Rockies.

Rocky Mountaineer’s only U.S. route, Rockies to the Red Rocks, runs between Denver, Colorado and Moab, Utah. Launched in 2021, this two-day journey highlights the raw beauty of the American Southwest, with sweeping canyons, striking red sandstone formations and wide-open desert landscapes.

Onboard, the experience is elevated by award-winning service and regionally inspired cuisine. Each season, Rocky Mountaineer’s Executive Chef creates menus showcasing local produce, from Alberta beef to Pacific seafood and fresh seasonal fruits, all served as the Host team ensures every detail is taken care of.

Beyond the rail journey itself, guests can add customised pre- and post-tour experiences, from exploring glaciers and national parks to gondola rides, wildlife encounters or desert adventures.

Effortlessly combining luxury with the spirit of exploration, Rocky Mountaineer is a truly memorable way to experience North America. To plan your journey and tailor it perfectly to your travel style, speak with Exclusively Cruising, your local travel specialist, on 03 9762 2799.
