Knox City Council will be commencing a free flu vaccine program for eligible residents in April.
The government-funded flu vaccine program will run between April and December. In 2021, 1204 people participated in the program, the majority of who were children.
“Getting the flu vaccine will help protect you and your family against the most common strains of influenza,” Knox Council said.
“In the lead up to winter, we are offering dedicated flu-only sessions between April and May to meet the increase in demand for the flu vaccine.”
People eligible for the vaccine are children from 6-months-old up to 4 years and 11 months old, seniors aged 65-years-old and over, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, pregnant women and people at least six months old with medical conditions that increase the risk of flu complications.
The flu vaccine and the Covid-19 vaccine can be taken on the same day, according to the latest advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation.
Bookings for the vaccine are now open, and more information can be found at https://www.knox.vic.gov.au/our-services/children-family-and-community-services/children-and-families/immunisations/flu-vaccinations-knox
