ONE of Australia’s rising folk sensations is getting ready to take centre stage at the Selby Folk Club next week.
Sam Burke and her band, The Wifeys, will entertain hills folk enthusiasts in a night not to be missed.
She is one of the young rising stars of the Australian folk scene.
This gifted young musician has been labelled as possessing an amazingly lyrical voice.
Ms Burke has risen to fame in the music world with her band the Wifeys.
The Melbourne based quartet acoustic band has been together since 2004.
Sam Burke and The Wifeys started playing together while studying classical music at the Melbourne Conservatorium.
Since then this quartet including Sam Burke on vocals, guitar and piano, Monica Royal on vocals, cello and double bass, Tammie Leamon on mandolin, classical guitar and djembe, and Georgie Cameron on violin, have been touring the country.
They have garnered rave reviews for their stunning harmonies, intricate string arrangements and melodic song writing.
Sam Burke and The Wifeys will offer a night of folk music infused with a classical edge and outstanding singing.
Special guests Hilary Blackshaw and Joel Bloom will also keep people entertained.
For a night not to be missed, folk enthusiasts can see this amazing quartet live in concert at the Selby Community House, Charles Street, on Friday 6 June.
