Playful puppets

IMAGINATIONS will run wild in Mount Evelyn when the Sox N Stories Puppetry Festival touches down on 21 and 22 September.
The Morrisons initiative is focussed on storytelling, puppetry and imagination and is for anyone who loves a story, has a story, tells a story, or wants to create one.
It’s about interactive entertainment, carnival experiences, and a journey into the arts that is engaging, educational, and exciting.
Opening night celebrations will run from 6.30pm to 9pm Friday and puppetry workshops will delight young and old from 9am to 5.30pm Saturday at the Yarra Hills Secondary College theatre in Old Hereford Road, Mount Evelyn.
The workshops are targeted to specific age groups so there’s something for everyone – sock puppets, glove puppets, stick and junk puppets will all bring stories to life.
At the end of the festival there’ll be professional performances and a dedicated time to share the things everyone has learned and created.
Sox N Stories workshop leaders have been specifically chosen for their expertise with various age groups from preschool to youth and adults.
The event will also feature performers, food, music, and more. Prices start from $5.
Yarra Ranges Council and Mount Evelyn Community Bank have joined Morrisons in presenting the event.
