Book sales boost charity

A LOCAL Yarra Ranges book distributor has donated more than $4500 to make children’s wishes come true.
Lifetime Distributors, known as “the book people”, donates five cents from every book sold through its direct customer display boxes in businesses, schools and hospitals to Make-A-Wish Australia.
Franchisee Derek Thurgood, who manages the Yarra Ranges region, contributed $4520 to the $500,000 total in the past five years.
While participation in the giving back program is not compulsory, the business has a 100 per cent participation rate.
Make-A-Wish Australia CEO Vici Funnell said the charity was extremely grateful to Lifetime Distributors for its contribute over the past five years.
“To reach a milestone of $500,000 has meant that more than 50 seriously ill children have had their wishes come true,” she said.
“Without the support of organisations such as Lifetime Distributors, it wouldn’t be possible for Make-A-Wish to continue to bring hope, strength and joy to children at a time when they need it the most.”
Lifetime Distributors master franchisee John Date said it was “great to work with such a fantastic organisation”.
