IT WAS all about kids helping kids in Gembrook on Sunday at the now famous Kids Fun Run with Thomas.
More than 5000 people shared in the fun and frivolity as the event shared the Puffing Billy station with the local market.
More than $50,000 was raised for the ongoing refurbishment of the children’s ward at the Angliss Hospital in Ferntree Gully, with runners themselves raising more than $8500 through Everyday Hero fund-raising.
The event, hosted by Emerald and District Rotary and a host of tireless volunteers, is the only one of its kind in the world. It features six races for kids aged from three years of age right up to 12.
Alex Kraam took out the ‘Green’ fun run, for those aged from nine to 12. He has no background in Little Athletics and, remarkably, It was his fifth consecutive victory. But sadly, at age 12, he won’t be back next year to defend his crown.
Mail photographers DONNA OATES and RUSSELL BENNETT were there to capture all of the action.
