CONTEMPOARY painter, printmaker and photographer Sue Jarvis has a selection of her paintings on show at Forest Edge Stone Gallery.
Opening early this month, the paintings will be on show until 30 October.
Ms Jarvis said her work shows everything from construction workers to landscapes and the exploration of people of different nationalities and backgrounds.
“I am particularly interested in people, nationality and figures of ideal beauty,” she said.
“The painting attracting the most attention is my Buz Kashi – The Art of War piece which is really bold and an interesting piece of art.”
Much of Ms Jarvis’s current work centres around the changing nature of the city with an emphasis on colour, shape and simplicity.
Forest Edge Stone Gallery is located on the very edge of the Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenong Ranges and is a space where artists can explore new boundaries in their craft.
Ms Jarvis said she was excited to be a part of the new gallery space.
“I’m really interested in this space, it’s not like a traditional gallery where the only thing you do is walk in and look at art,” she said.
“There is so much more for people to do, there is music playing, a cafe and the garden is looking beautiful with spring flowers and sculptures throughout.
“It’s a great experience for visitors.”
Forest Edge Stone Gallery is at 74 Monbulk Road, Kallista, with Sue Jarvis’s paintings on show from 8.30am to 4pm, Thursday to Sunday.
