FOR those who live with bushfire the Community Bank Safety Expo is coming up and is the perfect opportunity to get advice about fire plans.
Organised by Emerald, Cockatoo, Clematis, Menzies Creek and Maccelesfield CFA – it’s sure to be a good day.
Emerald fire brigade’s community safety co-ordinator Nick Waldron said that this was the second time the brigades in the area had held the event – the first was in 2011.
“We had a great turnout then,” he said.
“And we’ve again got the sponsorship from the Dandenong Ranges Community Bank Group – so we expect it to be well attended again.”
Mr Waldron said that this year was the perfect time to hold the exposition again following the New South Wales bushfires.
“People need to have their plans ready,” Mr Waldron said.
“We call it a one stop shop.
“There will be people from the shire, CFA, SES, Victoria Police, Wildlife Victoria and we’ll even have Captain Koala here.”
Those who attend will have the opportunity to receive information, help and advice as well as the opportunity to check out the fire trucks and other firefighting appliances in the area.
Dandenong Ranges Community Bank Group chairman Peter Marke said he was thrilled that the banks could sponsor the day again.
The Community Bank Safety Expo will be held on Sunday 24 November at the Emerald Mechanics Hall from 10am until 3pm.
