Siege ends peacefully

UPDATE:  A 48 year old Lilydale man has been remanded in custody, to face court at a later date after a siege on Tuesday. The man was charged with a number of offences – some relating to brandishing firearms. See full story in next weeks edition of the Mail.

16 January : A man has been charged in relation to a siege in Mount Evelyn last night. He was remanded in custody overnight and is expected to face the Ringwood Magistrates Court this afternoon.

4.30PM TUESDAY: A SIEGE in Mount Evelyn resulted in a man being arrested without incident shortly after 4pm today (Tuesday).
It is believed that a man, home alone at a David Road property, held police at bay for an unknown period.
Police set up a staging area at a reserve at Akarana Road and established roadblocks around the property in question.
Members from the Critical Incident Response Team were flown in by helicopter, with a result achieved a short time after their arrival.
Police spokesperson Belle Nolan confirmed that a man was arrested without incident.
Information about the man, and further details about the incident are yet to be released by police.
