Cops make town clean-up arrests

MONBULK’S streets will be cleaned up thanks to the effort of local police.
Last week Monbulk police charged three youths with criminal damage following escalating graffiti in the town and surrounding areas.
Sergeant Mark Knight said it was a real success to charge the three young males following a number of complaints from community members.
“It’s great to be able to clean up our streets,” Sgt Knight said.
“The town will now make an effort to clean up again.”
Sgt Knight said he was pleased to be able to charge a Warburton teen over the graffiti at the RSL and telephone exchange – a bone of contention for many people in the town.
The 15-year-old Warburton boy was bailed to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court after he was charged with theft and criminal damage.
Two Monbulk teens were also charged.
A 19-year-old man was charged with cultivating, use and possession of a drug of dependence as well as criminal damage in relation to graffiti in Kallista and Monbulk.
A 17-year-old man was charged with criminal damage in relation to graffiti in The Patch and bus stops in Monbulk.
Both men were released on summons but will face Ringwood Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
