KILSYTH calisthenics coach Kelly Eggington and her competition partner Amy Ellis, from Lysterfield, won a silver medal at the Pan Pacific Masters Games last week on the Gold Coast.
Both women are coaches and competitors on the Masters Team at Joulle Calisthenics in Croydon North.
“The Pan Pacs are held every two years,” Ms Eggington said.
“Amy and I entered a duo in the under-35 section.
“Based on our average age – me 29 and Amy 37 we had an average of 33.”
The duo came second out of seven acts. All three medal places were Victorians.
“The atmosphere was really friendly, supportive and encouraging,” she said.
“From our personal experience, after we came off stage we received nothing but positivity and praise on our performance. It was so nice to hear that from people whom we were competing against.”
Ms Eggington said that a lot of calisthenics clubs from across the country attended the Gold Coast event with their Masters Team, with a majority of these having team and duo event entries.
“Amy and I decided to go up to Queensland and enter our duo independently, without our team from Joulle Calisthenics Academy Inc entering as well,” she said.
“We can’t wait until 2016.”
Over 13,000 participants from all over the world competed in the multi-sport event which has stamped itself on the calendar at the beginning of November every two years.
The slogan of the Jupiters Pan Pacific Masters Games is ‘Play it, Live it, Love it!’ which encapsulates its competitive, participatory and social environment.
Over 40 sports for the over-30s are on this year’s program with no qualifying standards or times required to enter.
The only criteria is that participants meet the minimum age requirement for their respective sport, which for the majority is 30 years of age.
