Thieves urged to come clean

BELGRAVE Police are searching for information after thieves made off with a number of garden taps.
Police believe that overnight between 18-19 January, properties in Sophia Grove in Belgrave and Walter Street and Sandells Road in Tecoma had their water turned off and taps stolen.

Large haul
POLICE are searching for information and witnesses after a house was burgled in Montrose last week.
Lilydale CIU Detective Sergeant Mark Smithwick said that at noon on Thursday 15 January, a house on Browns Road in Montrose was broken into and burgled.
A computer, cash, jewellery and a trombone were all stolen, and Det Sgt Smithwick said the total cost of the stolen goods is estimated at $6700.
He said that two women were sighted near the property at the time of the crime, and asked anyone with information to call Lilydale police on 9739 2300.

Bike hunt
POLICE are hunting down numerous motorbikes after thieves broke into a shipping container and stole thousands of dollars in machinery.
Between 30 December and 12 January, thieves cut their way through a fence on a rural property on Beenak Road in Yellingbo, used tools to peel back the side of a shipping container and stole the contents.
A Yamaha TTR 50 and a 125cc orange trail bike were stolen, along with a mountain bike and a black and yellow water pump.
The cost of the stolen goods is estimated at $8500.

22yo charged
POLICE have arrested a 22-year-old man in relation to an attempted murder last month in Chirnside Park and are seeking witnesses to the crime.
The incident occurred on the Maroondah Highway in Chirnside Park at 12.03pm on 14 December, and a 22-year-old Chirnside Park man has since been arrested and remanded in custody.
Yarra Ranges CIU Detective Sergeant Mark Smithwick said police are appealing for witnesses, who may have observed a man behaving erratically around that time.

Gutted
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car was burnt out in Lilydale last week.
Emergency services were called out to a car fire on Selvin Street in Lilydale at 11.30pm on Wednesday 7 January.
CFA crews put out the car fire, but the vehicle was destroyed. It has since been taken away for forensic examination.
Anyone who may have witnesses suspicious behaviour or who have more information are asked to call Lilydale police on 9739 2300.

Break-in
WITNESSES are being sought after late-night robbers broke into a Lilydale business and stole a box of computer equipment last week.
At 4am on Monday 12 January, thieves allegedly broke into Statewide Locksmiths in Main Street, Lilydale, and stole a box of computer equipment.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage and are urging anyone with information to call 9739 2300.
