AFTER more than a quarter of a century in the planning, netballers from around Yarra Ranges are enjoying the game on modern, well-planned courts at Pinks Reserve in Kilsyth.
Grading matches for the Lilydale Yarra Valley Netball Association were in full swing on Saturday with the association’s website announcing more than 230 team entries for the winter 2015 season.
This is up by 13 on last year’s winter season, and 57 more than five years ago, showing a healthy interest in the game at all levels across the shire, and prompting LYVNA to declare … “Our move to Pinks Reserve has arrived just in time”.
More than 20 clubs are part of the LYVNA including Mount Evelyn which has 17 teams entered for winter and including Yarra Valley clubs from Yarra Glen with five, Worawa Aboriginal College with four, Seville, seven, Healesville, two, Coldstream, nine, Montrose, 18, Lilydale, 15, and Mooroolbark, 10.
Mount Evelyn Under 15s were among the teams undergoing grading matches on the new courts on Saturday, defeating Mooroolbark 22 to 7.
