NEW Cockatoo/Gembrook Community Bank branch manager, Kristy Sumner, has hit the ground running and is keen to connect with locals.
She’s already attended the Gembrook Cockatoo Football Club golf day, connected with the Emerald RSL and met with numerous school principals.
Kristy has been with Bendigo Bank for five years and says she is interested in ensuring the branch is providing first-rate banking for individuals and businesses in the region.
Kristy is keen to assist the local community with its banking needs.
She hopes the Community Bank philosophy of strengthening local communities will encourage people to seek contact for assistance.
“Since the Cockatoo branch opened in 2005, it has provided sponsorships, grants and scholarships in excess of $200,000,” she said.
“This is a great achievement, however, there is more to come.
“Our branch is part of the Dandenong Ranges Community Bank Group, which has also pledged $250,000 towards a community hub facility in Emerald.
“And another $50,000 towards the Emerald Sporting Club’s redevelopment of the club room building at Chandler Reserve.”
Ms Sumner said without the commitment of these funds from our company, these two major projects would have found it difficult to attract the additional funding required.
“We are hoping the community will continue to support us as we are supporting them,” she said.
