A FERNTREE Gully primary school has been the target of vandals over the school holidays.
Wattleview Primary School has had a fire that lit on school grounds as well as their new learning centre becoming the canvas for graffiti vandals.
Wattleview Primary School principal Elaine Wilson said she was very unimpressed with the behaviour of the individuals who vandalised the school.
“Obviously, we want to keep the school looking as good as it does now without recalcitrant people vandalising it for us,” she said.
A plastic target was also set up in the school grounds and set alight.
The school has only recently opened its new learning centre after receiving a $4 million investment from the State Government to build and re-landscape the school grounds.
The vandalism has since been cleaned up by a member of the school community, but police from Boronia are investigating the incidents.
Constable Porter of Boronia police said they were doing all they could to catch the people that defaced the school’s property.
“We’ve covered the initial police reports and all will be investigated,” he said.
“We will move into canvassing any witnesses and find out if there is any CCTV in the area. At this stage we have no leads.”
It is unclear at this stage if the two incidents are linked.
