AUSTRALIAN Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove will headline a star-studded list of dignitaries who will help Eastern Health’s major fund-raising campaign for the year.
Eastern Health will shine the spotlight on its researchers and their endeavours with the inaugural Searchlight Dinner at the Plaza Ballroom in Collins Street, Melbourne, on Tuesday, 24 May.
Special guests will also include family doctor and media presenter, Dr Sally Cockburn (aka Dr Feelgood), as well as Eastern Health Foundation patron and Channel Nine newsreader, Peter Hitchener.
This year’s theme is ‘celebrating life and all its colours’ and will raise funds for the Vivian Bullwinkel Chair in Palliative Care Nursing, based at Eastern Health.
Eastern Health Director of Palliative Care, Dr Margaret Bird, said the research and education program would address the need to provide optimum palliative care services to patients, their loved ones and the broader community.
“It will explore ways the health profession can better work with families and carers to determine what is important for the patient and appropriate treatment options when living with life-limiting illnesses,” she said.
Eastern Health Foundation Director Anne Gribbin encouraged the community get behind the event.
