A FERNY Creek woman was hospitalised over the weekend, after being involved in a horror crash on One Tree Hill Road that destroyed her car.
Belgrave police Leading Senior Constable Andrew Allen said at 1pm on Sunday 15 May, the 35-year-old woman was driving west on the road, when she failed to negotiate a bend in the road.
“The vehicle has clipped a tree on the side of the road, and then it spun 90 degrees and then rolled onto its roof, before … coming to rest between three other trees,” Leading Sen Const Allen said.
The driver was trapped in the car and rescued by CFA volunteers, before being taken to The Alfred hospital by ambulance.
Leading Sen Const Allen said the driver was not believed to be on drugs or under the influence of alcohol, but that police were investigating speed as a factor in the crash.
When asked about the damage to the car, Leading Sen Const Allen said the car was “more than written off”. Photos on the Eyewatch – Yarra Ranges Police Service Area Facebook page showed the red car destroyed by the crash, under the heading “LUCKY ESCAPE!!”.
He said one of the car’s tyres was found 24 metres away from the car.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the driver, who was the only occupant in the car, was taken to The Alfred in a stable condition.
