MORE than 100 people ignored the wet conditions to barrack for their local primary school teams in the inaugural Parish Cup at Monbulk Rangers Soccer Club last month.
A combined team of St Thomas More’s Belgrave and St Paul’s Monbulk played against St Mary’s Mount Evelyn in the junior and senior divisions, with the combined schools emerging victorious in both grades after some tough competition.
The Parish Cup was the brainwave of Belgrave Parish Council chairman, Andrew Price, who wanted to encourage closer ties between the schools.
Eleven students from St Paul’s Monbulk were members of the championship winning Monbulk Rangers Under 10s and Under 11s teams in this season’s Victorian Churches Football Association league.
