POLICE are appealing for public assistance to identify a man who approached a 10-year-old boy in Olinda on Thursday 6 October.
Knox Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives said the victim told investigators that he was walking along Monash Avenue when he was approached by a man driving a white tray utility.
The man got out of the utility and approached the boy, making a lewd gesture towards his groin.
Police said the boy ran from the location and the incident was reported to police.
The man is described to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late fifties with receding short white hair.
With assistance from the victim, police have compiled a computer generated image of the man, which is said to be a good likeness.
